VFlowTech Wins EMA Grant for Underground Energy Storage Innovation

VFlowTech is proud to be one of the two companies awarded a research grant by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), totaling S$7.8 million, to explore innovative, cost-effective, and space-efficient energy storage solutions.

Our project focuses on the potential of underground energy storage systems (ESS)—a groundbreaking approach to minimize land use while ensuring robust safety standards. As highlighted by EMA, understanding safety parameters, including fire safety, is crucial to successfully deploying underground ESS. This innovative research underscores our commitment to advancing sustainable long-duration energy storage solutions.

The project will unfold in two key phases:

Phase 1: A comprehensive feasibility study, emphasizing fire safety measures tailored for underground ESS.
Phase 2: Development of underground infrastructure and ESS systems, including regulatory approvals and testing of a lithium-ion/vanadium-flow hybrid battery system.
